Family Day 2026

Every five years, Boeing has a Family Day, where they invite all employees at the St. Louis site to bring their kin to see just exactly what it is we do here. The last time we did Family Day, was the day before we left on our trip to New England, and that was when the kids were still interested, and, more importantly, here. In there absence, there is little reason for me to drag Dixie onto campus, just to show her where my desk is now, so instead, I decided it was time to give back and volunteer.

I signed up to help run the small flight simulator that they had set up in the cafeteria of Bldg 101, but I was also obligated to help ECF staff their table (adjacent to the simulator). In the end, ECF won, and I spent about six hours there. We recruited 25 new donors, which is good, but not great. I couldn’t help feeling at the end of the day that I could have better spent that time somewhere else. But who knows? Maybe some of those new donors will one day be staffing the table themselves for Family Day 2056.
