Day Trip to Hermann

We’ve been enjoying our weekends this month – doing things that we haven’t normally done. Today we took a day trip to Hermann (and probably caught the early Oktoberfest crowd) just to have some wine and check out the antique stores. We took the scenic route to get there – along Hwy 94 – but took the quicker route home. We stopped first at Hermannhof and did a tasting which resulted in us buying a couple of bottles. We walked around town for a bit, had lunch at the Hermann Wurst Haus, which was nothing to write home about, and stopped in a few shops and then did one more tasting at the Black Shire Distillery. I bought a small bottle of their Maple Syrup Rye that went down pretty smooth when I tasted it. Then we headed down the road to Stone Hill and split a bottle of Traminette, along with some cheese and crackers, while we made fun of all of the women there wearing cowboy boots.
