Here We Come, Denmark

The whole trip isn’t booked yet, but last week I was able to get my tickets to the LEGO House Fan Tour and today I booked our flight to Billund. This is part of a larger Scandinavian tour next summer for Dixie and I (no kids this time). We are taking a bus tour of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, which...

Caribbean Cruise 2025

We got back last night from a 10-day vacation that included a 7-day cruise aboard the Norwegian Getaway. We stayed a couple of extra nights in New Orleans to explore the French Quarter. Honestly, the trip was exhausting, and I need a vacation to recover from my vacation, but we had fun and made lots of memories. Photos from the...

Grand Canyon 2024

We just got back from our 12-day roadtrip out west – with overnight stops in Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, Bryce Canyon and Flagstaff. We drove over 2,000 miles, ate some great food, and made some great memories. Some photos from the trip are available in my album, and check out the short video below.

Holiday Road

Edna, this is your tent! The flights and hotels are booked and now we are just looking forward to another (and perhaps the last) Pipes family roadtrip. This time to the desert southwest, including the Grand Canyon and a few National Parks. Noah is headed off to college in the fall and it may not be possible to get us...

Memphis 2023

We took the kids to Memphis for a long weekend and stayed right down on Beale Street. It was a nice little getaway and we saw some cool stuff and ate some great food. Photos are now up in my album and check out the video below.

Great Lakes 2023

We just got back from our loop around the Great Lakes. We drove 1,600 miles, with stops in Mackinac Island, Ottawa, Montreal, and Niagara Falls, among others. We took almost 2,000 photos, some of which are now in my photo album. We saw a lot of stuff and made some great memories. See the video below.

Good day, eh? And welcome to the Great White North. Hotels are reserved and flights are booked – looking forward to another Pipes family road trip around the Great Lakes this year in June. Ten days and about 1,600 miles. Can’t wait!

Key West

We spent ten days in Florida, visiting the grandparents in Winter Garden, a day at Disney, and then a 700-mile road trip to the Keys. Pictures from the trip are now up in my photo album, and check out the video below.

New England 2021

The journey home was a bit more challenging than we would have liked, but it just made us appreciate our good luck on the trip that much more. With the exception of one day on Nantucket, the weather was darn near perfect. We drove 2,000 miles, visited six states, and saw all kinds of amazing sights and made some great...

New England Here We Come

I just finished booking our airfare, hotels, and rental car for our epic New England journey. Like our California trip, we’ll be spending two weeks on the road, staying in several places along the way. Starting in Cape May, with stops in Philly, New York, and Boston, and culminating in Bar Harbor with a couple of days in Acadia National...

Branson 2019

There are a lot of reason why I love that we homeschool. Here’s another. I gave the kids a project this year – to plan our fall vacation. I drew a circle on the map around St. Louis that represented how far we could drive in 4-5 hours. I told them we could go anywhere inside that circle (which included...

Florida 2019

Dixie took the kids down to her grandparents for 10 days, and I flew down for a long weekend to hang out with them. This was our first time being at their new house in Winter Garden. It’s a really nice neighborhood, and they still have a pond behind their property with plenty of wildlife. The kids loved being able...

Virginia 2018

We spent two weeks, and drove over 750 miles across Virginia, for a home-school history field-trip. Photos are now up in my album. I sure had fun.  I hope we made some memories that will last in the kids’ minds.

Nashville

We spent a long weekend in Nashville with the kids and had a good time. We saw the Parthenon, did some geocaching, and took a riverboat cruise. We also saw the Opryland Hotel and learned about life on a plantation. Photos are now up in my album.

Savannah

Dixie and I celebrated our 15th anniversary with a long weekend in Savannah, Georgia. We stayed at a romantic little Bed ‘n Breakfast in the historic district and took a day-trip to Tybee Island to see the lighthouse there. Photos are now available in my album.
