Faster and Cheaper

I hate Charter with the intensity of a thousand suns, and it was with great pleasure that I called them this week and brought our long and expensive relationship to an end. They naturally attempted to keep me with a better offer, and I just can’t help but wonder, if they can afford to tempt me at the last minute, why can’t they just lower their rates and avoid playing this game in the first place? I know the answer, of course.
But after twelve years, I have returned to AT&T. This time, however, instead of the paltry 3mbs DSL service that I had with them previously, the speed is two orders of magnitude faster, and about the same price ($35). That is an introductory rate that will expire next April, and then it increases to $65. But that is still quite a bit cheaper than Charter’s $90/month. So, for the time being, I am once again happy with our situation.
