Kansas City weekend

I went to Kansas City this weekend to see Carlton, T-Roy, and Keith. I just saw Troy last year at Homecoming, but I had not seen Carlton since they last visited St. Louis in 2019, and the last time I saw Keith was 8 years ago at his 50th birthday. I worry that I’m not going to be able to maintain these friendships as we all get older.

Troy had us over to his house for dinner on Friday night and he grilled steaks. It was good to have some quite time to talk and catch up. We didn’t have any definite plans for Saturday, but I’ve already seen just about everything there is to see in KC. We talked about going to see the Truman Museum, but of course it was closed due to the government shutdown (thanks Trump!), so we ended up going to the Nelson Atkins Art Museum and spent about 3 hours walking around. They have an impressive collection there, including some great examples of George Caleb Bingham and Thomas Hart Benton’s works.

Then we met Keith Saturday night at Q39 for some great BBQ. It was a good weekend. I stopped in Columbia on the way home and had lunch with Noah at the Heidelberg.
