Bon Voyage

This is the time of year when I normally start looking ahead at a potential family vacation in the spring or the summer. The scheduling has been complicated by the fact that Noah is off at college now, but this is the new reality, so we just have to roll with it. He is applying to be a summer welcome leader, and if he’s accepted (and why wouldn’t they accept him?), he’ll be tied up until mid-July. So we had a quick family meeting yesterday and did something that we’ve never done – we booked a spontaneous vacation that is only 30 days away. Given Noah’s schedule, and the available itineraries, January turned out to be the best time to go on a cruise, and that’s what we’re doing. Dixie has had 24 hours to adjust to the idea and she’s actually excited about it today. We’ll spend a couple of extra days sightseeing in New Orleans while we are there. This is going to be great!
