Another Expensive Week
We’ve not had good luck with the Whirlpool dishwasher we bought in May 2018. We had the plastic bracket that holds the upper basket break shortly after we bought it (which was a fairly inexpensive fix), last year the spinning water sprayer on the bottom of the upper basket filled up with food particles and would no longer spin, and then, two weeks ago, the pump started leaking. Based on the performance of our previous dishwasher, I was expecting a repairman to charge me about $300 to replace the pump. But no. The repairman collected his $95 service call fee and told us that the parts and labor would be $500 and that the part was backordered and it might take two months to get. Thanks, coronavirus pandemic.
So, I was done with this dishwasher. If I’m going to spend $500, it isn’t going to be to fix a dishwasher that only cost me $500. Instead, we headed to Lowes and got a new KitchenAid dishwasher (for a little more than $1000) that matches our new oven, and I also learned my lesson and paid for the extended warranty on this one so I won’t find myself in the same situation 3 years from now.
