Beware of March
This has been a rough month. It started with me having a disagreement with the chainsaw (the chainsaw won, by the way), and a trip to Urgent Care for five stitches. A few days later, the United States finally succumbed to the coronavirus pandemic that has been spreading across the globe. Despite what seemed to be ample warnings in Jan and Feb, there was no concerted effort to respond to the threat in any meaningful way and now, all of the sudden, we find ourselves in lockdown.
As a government contractor, I have been designated as “essential personnel” so I am still going into work each day, but I am now wearing a facemask. The roads are virtually empty in the morning when I drive to work, which is nice, but we are starting to see shortages on things in the stores (especially toilet paper). Eric’s family was quarantined this month for two weeks because Emily tested positive (she caught the virus from someone at Dierbergs where she works). So I went grocery shopping for my aunt Linda and took her food. The lockdown also meant that we couldn’t have Josie’s birthday party like we planned, so we did our first ever FaceTime party with her grandparents and great-grandparents in Florida.
It was a crazy month – and I don’t see it getting better any time soon unfortunately.
