Florida 2019
Dixie took the kids down to her grandparents for 10 days, and I flew down for a long weekend to hang out with them. This was our first time being at their new house in Winter Garden. It’s a really nice neighborhood, and they still have a pond behind their property with plenty of wildlife. The kids loved being able to shoot pool whenever they wanted, and now I’m hearing suggestions that we should consider buying a pool table too.
I flew down there on Apr 15 and as I landed in Orlando, the news on all of the TVs in the airport was all about the fire at Notre Dame – it broke my heart to see the spire fall and all of that damage to such a wonder of architecture.
While I was down there we went to Universal Studios to see the world of Harry Potter, and I was looking forward to seeing Diagon Alley – it did not disappoint. One day was barely long enough to see everything, so we might need to go back again someday. We also spent a day going to the beach near Cape Canaveral and driving through a wildlife area there. I’m sure glad that we’ve been able to take the kids down there as often as we have, so that they could have a relationship with their great-grandparents. Photos from the trip are now up in my photo album.
